“An Overdue Update”

progressWith summer upon us and so much happening we have neglected to keep you, our generous supporters updated.  So here is a much overdue update:

Family #1:  While we still await news of when Abu Ziad, his wife and three children can join us in Canada, his parents and younger brother are settling in well.  Since February they have all been immersed at improving their already excellent English skills.  They have developed many friendships and are eager to be invited to events and excursions in and about Kingston.

Family#2: Mohammad, Reham, and their 5 children (ages 1-12) arrived in Kingston on June 14 and with the help of one of our family contact teams headed by Ray and Ellen Peters are settling into their new home in the Strathcona Park area of Kingston.  All 5 children have enrolled in soccer.

Family #3: Just a few days ago our third family, Haitham and Noor with their 4 children (ages 2-8) arrived in Kingston and are settling in with the help of the Islamic Society of Kingston.

Sponsorship #4:  The paperwork has been filed with Citizenship and Immigration and we have begun fundraising in partnership with  Reel Out Arts Project and HARS Kingston.  The Fundraising Project is called the “Kingston Rainbow Refugee Project”.  Please click on the link, give generously, and share on social media.

Sponsorship #5:  In our last update in April we revealed we were in discussions regarding a 5th family, and yes an application was filed with Citizenship and Immigration for another Syrian family, a husband, wife and their 4 children.  They are currently living in the Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan.  This sponsorship is also a partnership with the Islamic Society of Kingston
